Midtown Lunch Breaks

Midtown isn’t exactly known for a great food scene, but one thing it does have going for it is the array of take out and counter service options available for lunch. I try to be good by bringing my own lunch at least 3 days a week. When I do go out, these are some of my favorites:

  • Urbanspace-especially Taim, Inday go-go, Roberta’s, and La Palapa. Oh, and Dough of course when I just really need a doughnut
  • Naya-my usual move is the rice bowl with cauliflower and many toppings
  • Xian Famous Foods-I like the spicy tingly beef noodles. I’m pretty sure it’s just one really long noodle bathed in chili oil, so be prepared for splattering
  • Mangia-one of the better salad bars, plus if you eat upstairs after the lunch rush you basically have it all to yourself

Hudson County Takeout

Because I can’t cook EVERY day 🙂

  • Hudson Kebab House-get the baklava
  • Lotus Thai
  • Noches de Colombia

Night Out

We have a daunting number of places to try in and around the city, and don’t go out nearly enough to get through it. A slowly growing list of the ones we have tried and really enjoyed…

  • Olio e Piu, West Village
  • Szechuan Garden, Midtown East
  • Satay, Hoboken
