Much of my life revolves around food. Planning meals for the week, wandering grocery stores, exploring Midtown searching for the best lunch spots near work, and just generally thinking about my next meal pretty much always. I’ve been cooking since I was small. My mom is an excellent cook, and she made sure my brother and I knew our way around a kitchen from a young age. When I first moved out on my own, I spent a lot of time experimenting with complicated, time consuming meals. A lot has changed since then, (mainly a lack of excess spare time!) and now I find myself testing ways to shorten or simplify my favorite recipes. I’m here to share these edits with you. A few family recipes, some meals I like to throw together, and my go-to recipes made simpler or faster.
There is very little more satisfying to me than making a good meal for the people I love. I hope you find inspiration here, and share the love ❤
Some items you won’t find here:
- Shellfish (David is allergic, so I only eat it in restaurants)
- Poached, fried, or boiled eggs (This is all me, I just have a thing with eggs…)
- Very expensive ingredients-I’ll splurge on a good ribeye once in a while, but I can’t justify spending tons on groceries at this point in my life.
A note on cost: I will try to include all ingredients EXCEPT cooking oil, butter, flour, sugar, salt and pepper. I keep a pretty full pantry, so I’m almost never paying the total amount, but I put that number in case you need to start from scratch. Prices vary based on where you shop of course, so use these as an estimate.
